DFDS STRENGHTENS THE MANAGEMENT WITH AN INTERNATIONALLY
EXPERIENCED CFO
It is with great pleasure that DFDS is announcing that Torben Carlsen, 44 is
taking up the post of new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the DFDS group as of
2 June 2009.
Torben Carlsen has considerable expertise and experience as CFO from
international companies. Throughout his career he has been involved in every
key assignment within financing, economy, strategic development and planning as
well as aquisition, operation and integration of companies.

of the management team at DFDS. With his extensive experience and his ability
to enter into challenging international environments, Torben Carlsen will be a
great asset in strengthening our capacity in finance and financing at a time
when economic developments in general and DFDS' strategic development in
particular are making great demands on financial management and financing - and
not least in its ability to create new, innovative solutions,” says CEO, Niels
Smedegaard.
Torben Carlsen holds a degree as M.Sc. in Finance from the Aarhus School of
Business. He has accumulated experience within economics, finance, acquisition,
integration and operation of companies via managerial posts at SAS Service
Partner (1992-1994), the Swiss Air group (1994-1996 in Switzerland), Gate
Gourmet (1996-1998 in Switzerland), Polaris Private Equity (1998-2000 in
Denmark) and as CFO and later President of e-gatematrix, a division of Gate
Gourmet (2000-06 based in the United States). After the USA he was a partner at
the investment fund Odin Equity Partners and active on the board of a number of
private equity owned companies.
As new CFO, Torben Carlsen is joining the DFDS Group's Executive Management,
which in addition to CEO Niels Smedegaard, consists of Executive Vice President
Peder Gellert Pedersen (Ro-ro Shipping and Terminal Services), Executive Vice
President Ole Sehested (Container Shipping and Trailer Services), Executive
Vice President Carsten Jensen (Passenger Shipping), Executive Vice President
Henrik Holck (HR) as well as Executive Vice President Björn Petrusson (Sales).
The Executive Board consists of CEO Niels Smedegaard and CFO Torben Carlsen.
