LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - May 29, 2009) - During the launch of his brand-new Vegas rock
residency show, Supernatural
Santana: A Trip Through the Hits, Carlos Santana and his band showcased
their legendary talent at The
Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Pumping the house with high-energy
fusion sounds and passionate, unfettered entertainment, the band played to
an enthused crowd on the show's grand opening night, May 27. Through 2010,
The Joint will be the only
venue west of the Mississippi where fans can see Santana perform (and in
2009 the only venue in North America).
"It's a great journey for us to come to Las Vegas and bring our music --
which is composed of light and love, and good vibrations -- and share it
with the people that hopefully will come from all over the world to see us
at the new Joint," said Carlos
Santana. "We are bringing a different dimension to Las Vegas with this
show. It has elements of yesterday, today and tomorrow, and also the
element of surprise."
Supernatural Santana: A Trip
Through the Hits features the band's career-spanning classics in a show
exclusively designed for The Joint, surrounded by vibrant staging designed
by production veterans "Frank The Plumber." Illustrating the band's
free-flowing musicality, Supernatural Santana: A Trip
Through the Hits takes fans on a multi-sensory journey of their
favorite Santana songs and much more. The set list includes a nostalgic
collection of touchstone tracks reaching back as far as the first charting
single "Jingo" (1969) and first Top-10 hit "Evil Ways" (1970), up through
the latest hit, "Into The Night." Each show will be a unique take on the
band's music and Santana has extended an open offer for other artists to
join them on stage. Carlos Santana
said, "Whoever wants to partake in this big piece of cake, they are welcome
to do so." Fans will be surprised to discover who might join Santana on
stage for a song or two.
Best known for the group that bears his name, Carlos Santana has been reinventing the
international musical landscape with the sonic charge of his guitar for
nearly four decades. Over the course of his rewarding career, Santana has
sold more than 90 million records, and performed to more than 100 million
people globally. He has won eleven GRAMMY Awards. In 2000, his 36th album,
"Supernatural," became the most honored album of all time winning 9
Grammy's for a single project. In 1998, Santana was ushered into the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame and since then has been recognized by Rolling Stone
as among the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and "100 Greatest
Artists of All Time." Santana has also won three Latin GRAMMY Awards, and
in 2004, he received the Latin Recording Academy's prestigious "Person of
the Year" honor.
