A Duck Gets Carried Away -- By The Tide -- A Whole New Adventure for the Quackless Duck

PRINCETON, Mo., June 1, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A wonderfully illustrated book that will surely entertain and amuse readers, Quackless Duck Gets Washed Away gives pages filled with childish appeal. The second book of the Quackless Duck series, Quackless Duck Gets Washed Away continues the story of the life of a rubber duck that spends his days in a tub of water until the day his secret pals, who live in the woods, visit him.

One day, Quackless is forgotten by the boy who plays with him, and has to endure one day and night of uncertainty when the flood washes him away. He is rescued by a soon-to-be new pal who shows Quackless a new lifestyle. Quackless, on the other hand, has to endure his new pal's eccentric habits, but finds himself adjusting graciously.

Each illustration is large, boldly colored, and absolutely charming, doing a superb job of expanding the sentiments expressed in the text. Every child will enjoy reading about this lovable duck and his adventures.

This endearing picture book will be featured in the California Library Association Book Exhibit in Pasadena, California, which will run from October 31 to November 1, 2009. For more information, log on to www.Xlibris.com.

About the Author

Jane Lowrey-Christian didn't start writing until the winter of 2007, and reaching the age of seventy-six, though it had been a goal in mind for many years. After raising five children, and losing her parents and brothers, she felt the need to put her memories down on paper for her family. The result is Budgie and Sissy's Adventure, an account of the years in the 1930s when the depression and drought hit north Missouri. The story is from the viewpoint of the author as a young girl.

The Quackless Duck series was inspired by a rubber duck that had a sensor which let it quack when it was set off by motion. This talent was lost with time and age.

Jane and her husband, Harold Christian, sing together and attend country music in north Missouri and Southern Iowa. She also enjoys her piano and sketching, and did the illustrations in the Quackless duck series in cartoon style. The couple live in Princeton, Missouri.
