REDWOOD SHORES, CA--(Marketwire - June 1, 2009) - iPass Inc. (NASDAQ : IPAS ), a global
provider of services that unify the management of enterprise mobility,
announced several changes to its executive staff, adding new leadership
talent to drive the execution of its key initiatives. The following three
individuals are joining the company as corporate officers:
Steven Wastie has joined the company as senior vice president of marketing
and strategy. Steven brings with him a consistent track record of strategic
and operational success in marketing, product management and sales roles in
highly competitive markets. He was most recently the vice president of
marketing at Rohati Systems, Inc., a data center security company.
Previously he has held senior marketing positions at several technology
leaders. At Juniper Networks he served as vice president of worldwide
enterprise marketing. Before that he was vice president of marketing at
enterprise content management vendor Hummingbird and vice-president and
general manager at search engine company Inktomi.
William (Bill) Garvey has come on board as general counsel. For the past 12
years Bill has served as general counsel at a number of technology
companies, including ShoreTel, Inc., a manufacturer of VOIP business
communication systems, Rackable Systems, Inc., a computer server
manufacturer and Actuate Corporation, an enterprise reporting and business
intelligence software company. He has led companies through initial public
offerings, secondary offerings, acquisitions and patent litigation.
Steven Gatoff will join the company as chief financial officer. Steven has
nearly 20 years of leadership in building organizations, scaling operations
and driving shareholder value for technology and telecommunications
companies. He has held senior management positions at United Online,
Sterling Commerce and VeriSign. Prior to entering corporate finance, Steven
spent close to a decade in investment banking with Morgan Stanley, Credit
Suisse First Boston and Bear Stearns where he focused on the
telecommunications and technology sectors, executing numerous debt and
equity capital markets financings, M&A transactions and strategic advisory
engagements. Steven will join the company in the coming weeks.
iPass announced the addition of Jay Patel, senior vice-president of product
development, to the leadership team earlier this year.
In conjunction with these additions, the company announced the imminent
departure of Frank Verdecanna as chief financial officer and David Tauber
as interim general counsel. Both executives are committed to orderly
transitions of their functions. The company also announced that John
Charters, chief operating officer and senior vice-president of sales, will
be leaving the company. An executive search for a senior vice president of
sales is underway.
"Corporate change begins with forceful and inspired leadership. As iPass
executes its mission to become the enterprise mobility provider of choice,
I am excited to bring aboard three individuals who have demonstrated the
ability to drive companies to deliver exceptional results," said Evan
Kaplan, president and chief executive officer of iPass. "This infusion of
talent brings us close to the completion of our new executive team, a major
