iPass Announces Key Additions to Leadership Team

Enterprise Mobility Leader Adds Three Seasoned Technology Veterans to Its Executive Staff


REDWOOD SHORES, CA--(Marketwire - June 1, 2009) - iPass Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), a global provider of services that unify the management of enterprise mobility, announced several changes to its executive staff, adding new leadership talent to drive the execution of its key initiatives. The following three individuals are joining the company as corporate officers:

Steven Wastie has joined the company as senior vice president of marketing and strategy. Steven brings with him a consistent track record of strategic and operational success in marketing, product management and sales roles in highly competitive markets. He was most recently the vice president of marketing at Rohati Systems, Inc., a data center security company. Previously he has held senior marketing positions at several technology leaders. At Juniper Networks he served as vice president of worldwide enterprise marketing. Before that he was vice president of marketing at enterprise content management vendor Hummingbird and vice-president and general manager at search engine company Inktomi.

William (Bill) Garvey has come on board as general counsel. For the past 12 years Bill has served as general counsel at a number of technology companies, including ShoreTel, Inc., a manufacturer of VOIP business communication systems, Rackable Systems, Inc., a computer server manufacturer and Actuate Corporation, an enterprise reporting and business intelligence software company. He has led companies through initial public offerings, secondary offerings, acquisitions and patent litigation.

Steven Gatoff will join the company as chief financial officer. Steven has nearly 20 years of leadership in building organizations, scaling operations and driving shareholder value for technology and telecommunications companies. He has held senior management positions at United Online, Sterling Commerce and VeriSign. Prior to entering corporate finance, Steven spent close to a decade in investment banking with Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse First Boston and Bear Stearns where he focused on the telecommunications and technology sectors, executing numerous debt and equity capital markets financings, M&A transactions and strategic advisory engagements. Steven will join the company in the coming weeks.

iPass announced the addition of Jay Patel, senior vice-president of product development, to the leadership team earlier this year.

In conjunction with these additions, the company announced the imminent departure of Frank Verdecanna as chief financial officer and David Tauber as interim general counsel. Both executives are committed to orderly transitions of their functions. The company also announced that John Charters, chief operating officer and senior vice-president of sales, will be leaving the company. An executive search for a senior vice president of sales is underway.
