Ticketmaster Powers Sellout of Opening Event At Dallas Cowboys Stadium With George Strait

DALLAS, June 4, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ticketmaster, a Ticketmaster Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq:TKTM) operating business and ticketing partner with Cowboys Stadium, powered the first sellout at the groundbreaking new venue. A cowboy will headline the first sellout event, but it is not Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. George Strait, Academy of Country Music's 'Artist of the Decade,' will create the first of many memories at the enormous new stadium on June 6 along with Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton and Julianne Hough.

  • The new Cowboys Stadium, which is the world's largest column-free room, could fit the entire Statue of Liberty and its base inside the stadium with the roof closed.
  • Before the Dallas Cowboys take the field in the first of ten 2009 home games on August 21, the stadium will host the kick off of The Jonas Brothers World Tour on June 20.
  • The Stadium will showcase a different sort of football before the National Football League season begins with the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinal on July 19, followed closely by a World Football Challenge match between Chelsea FC and Club America on July 26.
  • In addition to being the new home of the Dallas Cowboys and the annual AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic, the stadium will host the 2011 Super Bowl, the 2010 NBA All-Star Game and the 2014 NCAA men's basketball Final Four as well as college football and basketball game, concerts and special events.

"Dallas Cowboys Stadium is the most exciting new venue in the world, and it will host some of the most exciting live entertainment experiences for generations," said Eric Korman, President of Ticketmaster. "We bring more than thirty years of cutting edge experience with us to the table as we work to create the best ticketing and marketing service for this celebrated new stadium."

"We have worked hard to create a world class entertainment venue to serve as the home of the Dallas Cowboys as well as headline events and concerts," said Brett Daniels, Director of Corporate Communications, Dallas Cowboys. "In selecting Ticketmaster, we have completed the circle by securing a world class ticketing partner to serve our fans and event patrons with the best in the business."
