ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif., June 29, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families, today announced it has received a $35,000 gift from the Ueberroth Family Foundation. Funds were donated specifically to support Canyon Acres' one-of-a-kind Creating Family Connections (CFC) program.
"Canyon Acres does a wonderful job helping abused, neglected and troubled children here in Southern California," said Vicki Booth, President of the Ueberroth Foundation. "When we heard about CFC's pressing need for funding, we wanted to help."
CFC searches for and engages long-lost family members of children who have been in the child welfare system for many years, offering a family connection that gives children a sense of belonging and hope. Last year alone, the program found more than 900 new family connections for more than 75 children. The Ueberroth Foundation's gift comes in response to recent cuts in Orange County public funding available to CFC. Since 1984, the Ueberroth Foundation has funded charitable organizations focused on youth, education and cancer.
"We are so blessed to count Vicki and the Ueberroth Family Foundation among our distinguished supporters," said Clete Menke, President of Canyon Acres. "This gift will allow us to continue our efforts to help kids who desperately need hope, love and care in their lives. We look forward to a continued partnership with the Foundation in the years to come and appreciate their emphasis in helping our community's underserved members."
