Restech Extends Service Area and Grows Its Business With Exalt Microwave Radio Systems
Systems Carry TDM and Ethernet Traffic, and Reduce Costs for Wisconsin Service Provider

CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwire - June 30, 2009) - Exalt
Communications, the company that is reinventing microwave backhaul,
announced today that Restech Services, a competitive local exchange carrier
(CLEC) serving the greater Madison, Wisconsin area, has deployed Exalt
microwave radio systems to extend its reach cost-effectively into new
service areas, rapidly deliver service and replace an unreliable,
low-capacity leased fiber connection.
"We initially turned to Exalt to replace a 20 megabit per second leased
fiber connection with reliability problems, but we now use Exalt systems in
many situations where leased lines are either too expensive or too
difficult to deploy," said Bryan Schenker, director of Restech Services.
"We can deploy an Exalt radio link within a day or two and then we own it,
rather than having to wait weeks or months to lease a connection from a
competitor. We will definitely be using more of these systems as we
continue to grow."
The first Exalt system deployed by Restech, the Exalt EX-5r-c,
replaced the problematic leased fiber line with a reliable microwave link
that supports 100 megabits per second (Mbps) Ethernet and four T-1 lines
(although it can support up to 200 Mbps Ethernet with a software upgrade).
As configured, this first Exalt system provides four T1 lines and 30 Mbps
of Ethernet. Additional Exalt links have been used so far to avoid the need
to lease a T1 line from a competitor to reach a new area in Madison, and to
rapidly provide voice and data services to a new building that otherwise
would have waited weeks or months for service.
"Competitive local service providers find success in their markets by
providing better service more quickly and with lower costs than entrenched
competitors," said Amir Zoufonoun, CEO of Exalt. "By choosing
license-exempt
Exalt EX-5r-c systems with its exclusive CarrierTDD™ capability,
Restech can expand its service much more quickly than wireline competitors,
and they can do it for a low, one-time fixed cost."
All
Exalt radio systems -- licensed and license-exempt -- are carrier-class
systems delivering 99.999% link availability, guaranteed throughput and
low, constant latency. Systems are available in frequencies from 2 to 40
GHz and in capacities up to 440 Mbps, providing a range of options to fit
countless network applications. Designed to enable a smooth transition to
IP, they offer native support for both TDM and Ethernet, and are fully
software configurable and upgradeable. For easy and secure management using
third-party network management systems, Exalt systems support SNMP v1, v2c
and v3. Data security is provided by available FIPS-197 compliant AES
128-bit and 256-bit encryption that adds zero latency to the transmission.
To simplify installation and maintenance, all Exalt systems feature an
embedded manual and most include a built-in spectrum analyzer.
