LEIPZIG, GERMANY--(Marketwire - July 13, 2009) - ipoque, the leading European provider of
Internet traffic management solutions, today announced that it succeeded to
win a test of deep packet inspection (DPI) bandwidth management solutions
for monitoring and regulating peer-to-peer (P2P) traffic conducted by the
European Advanced Networking Tester Center (EANTC), a vendor-neutral test
center. The focus of the test was on detection and regulation accuracy of
peer-to-peer file sharing, the overall performance of the solution, and the
suitability for deployment in large ISP networks.
ipoque participated with its carrier grade PRX-10G Traffic Manager and
shares the first place with another vendor of traffic management equipment.
Out of 15 vendors invited to the test, only three participated and today
published their results.
"Our systems have been thoroughly tested by EANTC in ISP-like scenarios,"
says Hendrik Schulze, CTO of ipoque. "This test is so important to us
because it officially confirms the specifications on our data sheets."
Test Methodology
PRX-10G Traffic Manager was tested in three phases: in a first step, EANTC
verified the performance for IP and application layer traffic, then looked
at the detection, regulation and filtering accuracy under load, and finally
emulated special ISP traffic conditions as asymmetric routing and
encapsulated traffic. Also part of the test was the ability to smoothly
integrate into existing ISP network environments with no harm to network
operation and performance.
Compared to last year's test
(
http://www.ipoque.com/resources/product-tests/prx-5g), EANTC extended the
test bed limit to 25 Gbit/s application layer and 60 Gbit/s IP layer
traffic. Even at that data rates, PRX-10G could not be saturated. EANTC
engineers extrapolated that PRX-10G is able to handle up to 75 Gbit/s with
DPI classification of the entire traffic without packet loss.
Overview of Test Results
-- Throughput of up to 75 Gbit/s
-- 99% detection and regulation accuracy for all popular P2P protocols
-- 100% compliance in P2P blocking test
-- Encryption and VLAN tags have no effect on detection and regulation
accuracy
-- Linear scalability with additional packet processing blades
-- Zero packet loss at test bed limit of 60 Gbit/s with 12 out of 14
packet processing blades
