EnergySolutions to Manage Waste Generated at Idaho National Laboratory
Contract Valued at $19 Million

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwire - July 15, 2009) - EnergySolutions, Inc. (NYSE : ES )
announced today it has been awarded a contract from Battelle Energy
Alliance (BEA) to manage waste produced by BEA's laboratory operations at
the Idaho National Laboratory site. BEA is the Management and Operations
contractor at the Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory.

EnergySolutions will provide these services at several BEA managed
facilities at the U.S. Department of Energy site in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The
scope of work includes characterization, loading, treatment disposal and
oversight of packaging and transportation of radioactive, hazardous,
industrial and mixed waste.
The contract term is five years with an estimated value of $19 million.
Work under the contract will begin this summer.
