BEVERLY, MA--(Marketwire - July 20, 2009) - Electric Insurance Company, a national, leading
provider of personal and commercial lines insurance, announced today that
Maureen Hegarty, vice president of claim operations, has earned an esteemed
2009 Women In Insurance Leadership Award from Insurance Networking News
(INN) magazine. This award seeks to honor female insurance executives who
have made a significant impact on their businesses.
Since its inception four years ago, INN's presentation of the most
influential women in insurance has profiled the extraordinary
accomplishments of 22 individuals -- whose pursuit of leadership and
professional performance has fostered influence that is redefining the
insurance business and technology industry landscape. Judging for the 2009
program included a rating methodology based on the candidate's contribution
to the institution's top and bottom lines, job complexity, corporate
governance and ethics, and leadership and management skills.
Hegarty has been with Electric Insurance since April of 1989. At Electric
Insurance, Hegarty is responsible for all facets of its countrywide
personal lines home, auto, and excess liability claims operations in
addition to the First Notice of Loss reporting for both Personal Lines and
the GE Appliance Claims Program that the Company manages. The award
recognizes Maureen for her role in developing an award-winning claims
department, successfully developing and executing the claims operations
Catastrophe Plan, and driving positive change throughout the organization
through data-driven decision making, expense control and relationship
building.
Other 2009 winners included senior executives from other well-known and
respected insurance companies including The Chubb Corporation, Hartford
Life, Markel Corporation, Aon Risk Services and Zurich of North America.
The 2009 Winners will be featured in the September/October 2009 issue of
INN and will be recognized at INN's Women In Leadership Forum September
13-15, 2009 in Dallas, TX.
"We are pleased that Maureen has received recognition for her role as a
leader in the insurance industry," said Marc Meiches, president and CEO of
Electric Insurance Company. "Maureen's many leadership qualities are
visible throughout our organization, not only from her role as the head of
