City of Lakewood Upgrades Internet Filtering Solution to St. Bernard's iPrism Web Filter
iPrism Provides Superior Reporting, User-Friendly Management Capabilities and Greater ROI
| Source: St. Bernard
SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - July 21, 2009) - St.
Bernard Software, Inc. (OTCBB : SBSW ), a leader in Web security appliances, today announced City of Lakewood
in California is using the iPrism Web
Filter to monitor employee web use throughout the entire enterprise,
which includes seven remote filtering sites. Lakewood abandoned a competing
solution for iPrism in favor of its granular reports, cost-effective appeal
and manageability.
IT administrators at Lakewood were tasked with combating bandwidth drain
associated with the use of large files and multimedia sites, such as
streaming audio and video. With iPrism's detailed reporting, Lakewood's IT
staff can easily monitor what employees are streaming and decide what to
block as needed, such as popular P2P sites or social networking sites.
Lakewood can retrieve reports faster with iPrism than with their former
Websense solution, saving the IT employees over two hours a week and
allowing them to quickly enforce their current Internet policy.
City of Lakewood was attracted to iPrism's robust and user-friendly
interface, which administrators found easier to navigate than their
previous solution. Lakewood also appreciated iPrism's easy install and
configuration process, as the entire product is appliance-based and not
dependent on a server. This saves the IT team valuable time and money by
not requiring them to replace the server every few years.
"We struggled with our previous solution, essentially employing a full-time
person to manage the Web filter and its numerous policies. We needed to
implement a dependable, cost-effective Web filter that could give us a
greater ROI," said Bill Pan, system administrator at City of Lakewood.
"With St. Bernard's iPrism, we've put in a smaller investment for greater
results. We can quickly identify bandwidth consuming sites to block
employee access to, while having St. Bernard's helpful and friendly
customer support at our fingertips."
"Companies are tightening their belts and need to spend wisely on resources
that don't sacrifice quality. Low total cost of ownership is increasingly
important," said Steve Yin, VP of global sales and marketing at St.
Bernard. "City of Lakewood is one example of a former Websense customer in
search of an affordable, one-stop security tool that's ease to manage,
deploy and maintain."
iPrism comes equipped with high-performance anti-virus and anti-spyware as
standard features, protecting networks from the dangers of contaminated Web
sites and Web 2.0 security threats. The iPrism appliance also utilizes deep
packet inspection technology to analyze Web traffic, identify suspicious
activity and block access to sites accordingly.
