- Century Aluminum Completes Divestment of Stakes in Bauxite and Alumina Assets


MONTEREY, CA--(Marketwire - September 01, 2009) - Century Aluminum Company
(NASDAQ: CENX) today announced that the sale of the company's 50% joint venture
ownership positions in Gramercy Alumina LLC and St. Ann Bauxite Limited to
Noranda Aluminum Holding Corporation was completed on August 31. With the
closing of this transaction, Century has divested itself of its entire interest
in these businesses. 

Century Aluminum Company owns primary aluminum capacity in the United States
and Iceland. Century's corporate offices are located in Monterey, California.
