Inverto Builds On Family of Unicable Solutions Powered by Entropic Silicon

Technology Collaboration Results in Delivering Single-Cable Solutions for Multiple Satellite and Multiple Tuner Applications

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, Sept. 14, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENTR), a leading provider of silicon and software solutions to enable connected home networking and entertainment, today announced that Inverto, a leading set-top-box design house, controlled by FTA Communication Technologies, has introduced the latest in its family of Black Unicable Multiswitches utilizing Entropic's RF5219 channel stacking switch (CSS) silicon technology. The Inverto Dual Satellite Cascadable Unicable Switch delivers the lowest cost, state-of-the-art, high-performance single-cable solution for multiple satellite and multiple tuner applications.

Building on a long standing relationship, Entropic and Inverto are committed to leading the charge for the implementation of single cable solutions for the Pay-TV and Free-to-Air Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) markets. Inverto's integration of Entropic's unique CSS technology has allowed them to add this new multiswitch product to their family of Black Unicable Multiswitches as they continue to lead the industry with high-performance and highly competitive solutions.

Inverto's Black Unicable Multiswitch family featuring Entropic
 silicon includes:
 * Dual Satellite Cascadable Unicable switch
(IDLP-USS200-CUO1O-8PP) -- Just introduced, this is the smallest
form factor unicable switch enabling the reception of two
satellites and installations of up to 8 satellite receivers over a
single cable and features a terrestrial antenna input and two
   legacy outputs.
 * Unicable Cascadable Switch (IDLP-UST111CUO1O-SPP) -- The smallest
form factor unicable switch enabling installations with up to 8
satellite receivers over a single cable, a dedicated legacy output
   and a terrestrial antenna input.

Both products communicate via the EN 50494 standard for single cable distribution -- the industry standard, which both companies have been leading contributors and supporters of.

"Entropic's CSS technology has allowed us to deliver a family of Unicable multiswitch solutions for the DBS market, with additional products planned for the near future," said Tomer Bentzion CEO, Inverto. "With emphasis on interoperability, Unicable-compliant solutions are set to move into mass market adoption. We are pleased to deliver multiple solutions with Entropic's silicon, as we expand our ability to address the growing MDU market, both operator based and Free-to-Air."

"Inverto continues to lead in bringing top multiswitch devices to market and we are proud to have our industry-proven silicon be part of their solutions," said Vinay Gokhale, senior vice president marketing and business development, Entropic Communications. "We look forward to growing our relationship with Inverto, as together, we build on the momentum for the growing demand to deliver best-in-class solutions that allow end users to enjoy high-performance, bandwidth-intensive, multimedia applications and services, at the lowest possible deployment costs."

Entropic's second generation CSS silicon, the RF5219, is a low power consuming IC specifically designed for both operators and FTA installers and retailers in the direct-to-home (DTH) outdoor unit (ODU) market. The new CSS chipsets, embedded in a Low Noise Block (LNB) or Multiswitch, consume up to 40 percent less power than the previous generation. Inverto's Multiswitch products, built on Entropic's silicon, offer immediate benefits to operators and consumers alike as CSS enables a single cable to be run to all the set-top boxes (STBs) in the home. Operators can significantly reduce both the cost and cabling complexity of single family and MDU satellite installations, while delivering multiple video streams from individual or multiple satellites into the home over a single cable, resulting in installation aesthetics, more reliable system performance and overall improvement to the customer experience.
