TORONTO--(Marketwire - September 15, 2009) - Stereoscopic 3D (S-3D) is the same technology used
in modern 3D movie theatres, and has been earning similar interest in the
gaming space. To maximize this opportunity, The S-3D Gaming Alliance was
announced at SIGGRAPH 2009, and has been gaining momentum ever since.
Neil Schneider, the President and CEO of S3DGA, is best known for his
pioneering work on Meant to be Seen (www.mtbs3D.com), the world's leading
website focused on stereoscopic 3D gaming and entertainment.
"Leading game developers have already shown that S-3D gaming is equally
possible on XBOX, PS3, and PC solutions. With several new 3D Ready
products due out in 2010, game developers and manufacturers need a standard
to work with. There is also the matter of public education and further
building the demand for this new gaming experience," said Schneider.
Neil Trevett serves as the President of the Khronos Group and is Vice
President of Mobile Content for NVIDIA. The Khronos Group is responsible
for defining and evolving multiple royalty-free API standards including
OpenGL®, OpenGL ES and OpenCL™.
"There is a clear and growing interest in stereoscopic 3D gaming and
industry cooperation will help to drive adoption and maximize market
opportunities for all involved," said Neil Trevett, President of the
Khronos Group. "I am excited to be involved to help S3DGA become an
effective forum to accelerate the availability of great stereoscopic 3D
gaming for end users everywhere."
"In addition to Neil Trevett's advisory board membership, we are equally
honored to have RealD join S3DGA as a valued member," said Schneider.
"RealD has been pioneering S-3D cinema for years, and we are keenly
interested in gaming. S3DGA understands the unique benefits and challenges
stereoscopic 3D gaming has to offer, and they have earned our support. We
are looking forward to participating in their first meeting at the 3D
Entertainment Summit," said Joshua Greer, President and Co-Founder of
RealD.
An introductory S3DGA meeting will be held at 5:30PM September 17th at the
3D Entertainment Summit. Meeting participation is free, and S3DGA meeting
attendees qualify for a 25% discount on summit registration when they use
the "S3DGA" discount code. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP via
members@s3dga.com because space has grown extremely limited.
Confirmed meeting speakers include Habib Zargarpour, Senior Art Director
for Electronic Arts, Andrew Oliver, CTO of Blitz Games Studios, Ami Dror,
Chief Strategy Officer for XpanD, Chris Yewdall, President of DDD, and
more. Additional members on record include Jon Peddie Research, iZ3D,
TDVision Corp., RealD, and Sensio.
As an added bonus, Neil Schneider will be moderating a gaming panel at the
3D Entertainment Summit on September 16th at 3:30PM. It will feature the
likes of Blitz Games Studios, Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft and promises to
be very informative.
"Everybody wants to learn why stereoscopic 3D is so exciting, and what the
leading innovations are right now. I find these panels always reveal
something new, and I'm looking forward to it," said Schneider.
Neil Schneider will remain in Universal City, California on September 18th
for additional private meetings if required, and arrangements can be
scheduled with S3DGA's press contact listed below. More can be learned
