DFDS continues to adjust its cost level to the current market situation through
Project Lightship.
DFDS is still focused on adapting the group's costs to current market
requirements. This will be brought about through Project Lightship which aims
to reduce ships' operating costs by DKK 100 million per year from 2010 through
savings in oil consumption, crewing, purchasing and supply, maintenance and
administration.
As part of Project Lightship, DFDS announced on 1 September 2009 a reduction of
two positions per ship on all ships sailing under Danish flag. Today, 28
September, there will be a reduction of the crew on board the group's
Lithuanian ships of four jobs per ship - and three jobs on one particular ship.
This corresponds to a total reduction of 23 jobs on board Lithuanian ships in
the Baltic.
At the same time the land organisation of AB DFDS LISCO in Klaipeda in
Lithuania will be adjusted by five jobs in total. DFDS LISCO is a wholly-owned
subsidiary of DFDS A/S. The company primarily operates freight and passenger
services between Lithuania and Sweden, Germany and Denmark. It also operates
services to Latvia and Russia.
