Army Materiel Command Headquarters to Deploy AtHoc's Network-Centric Emergency Mass Notification System
AtHoc IWSAlerts to Provide Unified Mass Notification Capability to Protect AMC Personnel in Case of Emergency
| Source: AtHoc
SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - October 13, 2009) - AtHoc, Inc., the pioneer and leader in
network-centric emergency
notification systems, today announced the signing of an agreement with
the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) to deploy its AtHoc IWSAlerts™ 3rd
generation emergency mass notification system to protect and warn all
personnel in its headquarters.
Garrisoned at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, AMC is the Army's main provider of
technology, acquisition support, materiel development, logistics power
projection and sustainment. AMC operates the research, development and
engineering centers depots; arsenals; ammunition plants; and other
facilities and maintains the Army's prepositioned stocks, both on land and
afloat.
The AtHoc network-centric mass notification
system will be deployed onsite behind AMC's NIPRNet firewall and will run
using Microsoft-based servers and databases. Leveraging AMC's existing IP
network, AtHoc IWSAlerts will deliver popup notifications to all networked
computers as well as alerts to cell and landline phones and mobile phones.
AtHoc's unified mass notification system will enable authorized emergency
operators to initiate alerts from any standard Web browser and deliver
targeted alerts to AMC personnel in minutes. AtHoc's powerful personnel
accountability module gives the command the ability to gain a clear picture
of affected AMC personnel by tracking receipt of alerts and feedback on the
individual's status (e.g. injured, okay, off-site, etc.) and providing
comprehensive organizational reports of the status of personnel by unit,
sub-unit and individuals.
The deployment of AtHoc's IWSAlerts at AMC is further evidence that the
Department of Defense (DoD) is moving toward an adaption of
third-generation mass notification technology. Third-generation systems
leverage existing IP networks to (a) communicate rapidly to all
IP-connected devices; (b) integrate and unify disparate existing mass
notification capabilities; (c) provide bi-directional communication
allowing collection of feedback from all personnel; and (d) achieve
enterprise-level scalability and processes. The result is the most
effective enterprise-wide mass notification capability with the best
cost-to-benefit ratio.
"Being selected to help enhance force protection at AMC headquarters is a
substantial achievement for AtHoc and furthers our penetration into the
DoD, where AtHoc's technology is already in use by over 175 bases
worldwide," said (Ret.) Army Colonel David Brown, Director of Army
Operations of AtHoc. "We look forward to this deployment as it furthers our
commitment to providing third-generation mass alerting solutions to U.S.
Army installations around the world."
