NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - October 19, 2009) - Are you a "Digital Nomad"? Nomadesk, developer
of the easiest
and most
secure on-demand file sharing software (click here to download a free
30-day trial), wants to know your story. Nomadesk today launched a "Digital Nomad Video
Contest," to engage people in the conversation of how they are
successfully working from varied remote locations given today's new
technologies -- which provide people the means to stay connected and
productive from anywhere. Simply upload your "Digital Nomad" story
describing your craziest or most productive day working from a remote
location in a video format at Nomadesk.com/DigitalNomad. The top 10 rated
videos will each receive a 1-year subscription to a Nomadesk Team File
Server. These top 10 videos will be judged by a panel of Digital Nomads
(see below) and the winner will receive a Digital Nomad Survival Kit
valued at $2,100, which features:
-- a Dell Netbook with Webcam
-- Novatel Mifi
-- Logitech Headset and Mic
-- BlackBerry Bold 9000 Smartphone
-- Nomadesk Travel Backpack and
-- a Nomadesk Team File
Server (3-year free subscription)
In Mike Elgan's recent blog post, "What kind of digital
nomad are you?" he outlines various types of Digital Nomads...
"Location-independent digital nomads run the gamut from people who sneak
off to Starbucks to get some focused work done to hard-core adventure
travelers who sell their house, leave the country and travel the world for
years. In between, there are all kinds of people and reasons to take
advantage of the flexible-work opportunities that mobile devices, social
networks and the Internet make possible." Click here to read all of his definitions.
"In this era of connectivity, 'Digital Nomads' are a growing number of
people choosing to conduct business from anywhere, and many are earning a
solid living while exploring the planet, sojourning to exciting locations,
or simply working while on the road in between client visits," said Filip
Tack, Nomadesk CEO. "We want Digital Nomads to share their success stories
with us and help inspire the rest of the world to see new possibilities in
work life. At Nomadesk we are helping Digital Nomads become even more
mobile by safeguarding their files and giving them the opportunity to
access their stuff from anywhere. Check out today's announcement on our new
MyNomadesk.mobi release with improved usability benefits!"

How the Digital Nomad Contest Works
Contestants are encouraged to share their craziest or most productive day
working in the Digital Nomad lifestyle by uploading a less than 3-minute
video at Nomadesk.com/DigitalNomad. Each video will be rated by the public,
so share your videos with friends and family. The top 10 videos with the
most votes will be submitted to a panel of judges. The Contest runs October
19, 2009 through December 31, 2009. For details and requirements, check out
the rules and regulations here.
The winner will be announced on January 13, 2010.
Criteria and Judging
A special panel of judges, all Digital
Nomads themselves, will review the top 10 rated entries and determine the
winner. Each person can submit one video entry, which will be judged on
originality (where were you working from and why), use of technology (what
products aided you in your ability to be productive?) and impact (what were
you able to achieve or accomplish?). The judges include:
-- Bruce Eric Anderson,
Social Media Evangelist for Dell and creator of DigitalNomads.com
-- Craig
Crossman, host of Computer
America Radio Show
-- Mike Elgan, blogger and journalist
for such publications as ComputerWorld and Datamation
-- Chris Guillebeau, writer,
world traveler and creator of "Art of Non-Conformity" Blog
-- Chris Shipley, chairman and CEO of
Guidewire Group and Founder of DEMO
-- Filip Tack,
CEO of Nomadesk.
