LogMeIn Survey: iPhone Users Leave Their Laptops Behind and Stay Connected From Virtually Anywhere

True-Life Tales of Anytime, Anywhere Remote Access Revealed in New LogMeIn eBook

WOBURN, Mass., Oct. 20, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A recent survey of LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone users reveals that 57 percent now leave their laptops behind at least half of the time in favor of carrying their Apple device with LogMeIn Ignition. The survey results are revealed in a new eBook from LogMeIn: "Hey, that guy is running his laptop from his iPhone," now available for free download at http://tinyurl.com/ditchthelaptop.

The eBook also shares true-life stories of iPhone users, from doctors to mountain climbers, who successfully used their iPhone and the LogMeIn app to stay connected and productive, no matter where work or life takes them.

The survey of 400 LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone users revealed both mobile workers and consumers are using the application virtually everywhere -- in a car, at the hospital, in the courtroom and on the beach.

Roughly two-thirds are using Ignition for iPhone to access a home or work computer (68.4 percent and 65.4 percent respectively). The most popular application accessed remotely is email (39.1 percent).

More than a third (38 percent) are using LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone for IT support and 28.7 percent are assisting friends and family members. According to Kevin Koch who runs Uncle Don's Hobbies in Palm Desert, Calif., "I was on a mountain in Colorado and got a tech call from the office that only I knew how to fix. I was on top of the world, at 14,000 feet, after climbing for seven hours, and with a few strokes on my iPhone, LogMeIn Ignition allowed me to be on top of the world and a hero, all at the same time."

"For many, the iPhone has become an important business tool, that when combined with LogMeIn, allows them to be un-tethered from their computers while staying connected," said Andrew Burton, Vice President of Consumer and SMB products at LogMeIn. "These unique customer stories of mobility and productivity, from mountain tops to emergency rooms, all share a common, unifying theme: secure, yet easy-to-use connectivity provides individuals with new ways to balance their personal and business lives."

LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone and iPod touch connects to desktops, laptops and servers running LogMeIn Pro2 or LogMeIn Free, and can be used to control Windows-based PCs and Macs(1).
