Northgate Minerals Corp. (NXG) is a Canada-based gold and copper producer with operations, development projects and exploration properties in Canada and Australia. The Company's principal producing assets are its 100% interests in the Fosterville and Stawell Gold mines in Australia and the Kemess South mine in Canada. NXG also holds a 100% interest in the Young-Davidson property, a development project in Canada. Drilling took place on Northgate's Young-Davidson property immediately east of the current ore reserve in and around historic mine workings, which was operated by Matachewan Consolidated during the mid 1900s (1934-1954).
"NXG recently announced an increase in mineral reserves and resources at its Stawell Gold Mine located in Victoria, Australia. An aggressive exploration program in support of resource delineation and conversion has identified approximately 870,000 tonnes of additional mineral reserves containing 93,000 ounces of gold and has extended the current mine-life until the second quarter of 2012."
