Construction start for Victoria Tower in Kista

Today, the first sod will be officially cut for Stockholm's second
highest building, Victoria Tower, whose tenants include the new hotel
Scandic Kista. Inofficially, construction has already started in
earnest.

With its 120 metres, Victoria Tower will be the second highest
building in Stockholm after the Kaknästornet. Building a 33-storey
hotel cannot be done overnight and the building contractor Arthur
Buchardts AB Invest AS has therefore already begun blasting and
excavation work. The hotel will be completed within two years.

The hotel will have a distinctive design. The glass facades of the
hotel will appear to glitter at dusk. Wingårdhs Arkitektkontor is
responsible for the design. The hotel, located adjacent to the
exhibition and events centre Kistamässan, will be operated by Scandic
Hotels. Victoria Tower will contain 300 hotel rooms and 10 floors
with around 5,000 sq.m. of office space. Inauguration of the hotel is
planned for September 2011.

"Victoria Tower marks a new entrance to Stockholm and shows clearly
that the city is expanding. The building has interesting architecture
and it is especially gratifying to start construction just at this
time - despite the downturn, exciting things are happening in
Stockholm" says Kristina Alvendal (Moderate Party), Vice Mayor, City
Planning Division.

"The interior of the hotel will also have a unique story and
identity. We want guests to be both inspired and to recharge their
batteries when they stay at Scandic", says Frank Fiskers, President
and CEO of the hotel chain.

"As the largest commercial property owner in Kista, we are, of
course, very pleased to be able to make a contribution to the area
now having a representative meeting place which will be a lift for
the whole of Kista", says Klövern's CEO Gustaf Hermelin.
