Nordic broadcaster selects Net Insight's Nimbra platform for video contribution feeds from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games

Stockholm, Sweden - Net Insight, a leading developer of efficient and
scalable optical transport solutions for media, IP and broadcast
networks, has received an order of the Nimbra platform from a Nordic
broadcaster.

The broadcaster operates national TV and radio channels in a Nordic
country and has previously deployed a media network based on the
Nimbra platform to carry data and broadcast traffic between
production sites.

The media network is now being upgraded with Net Insight's
high-capacity Nimbra 680 switch and a new contribution network will
be deployed based on the Nimbra 300/One series. The network will
carry video, audio and data feeds from Canada in support of the
broadcaster's Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games coverage.

The Nimbra 680 is a multi-service switch designed to meet the
rigorous rich media and data service needs of carriers and service
providers including high switching capacity, end-to-end provisioning
and restoration and 100 percent quality of service guaranteed. With
the 8 x Video Access Module, it offers extensive flexibility for
studio, contribution and distribution networks. Each of the module's
eight ports can be individually configured as ASI In or ASI Out, as
well as standard definition (SD) or high definition (HD) SDI. The
module delivers a cost-effective multi-purpose solution for video
streams that require a mix of compressed and uncompressed HD and SD
content from a single venue, such as sports arenas and editing
trucks.
