NKK Switches Announces Process Sealed, PCB Mount, Antistatic, Subminiature Toggle Switches
B Series' Antistatic Superstructure Prevents Static Discharge to Contacts

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - December 17, 2009) - NKK Switches, the world's leading designer
and manufacturer of innovative electromechanical switches, today announced
the availability of the B Series of process sealed, PCB mount, antistatic,
subminiature toggle switches. These new toggle switches were specifically
designed for logic level applications.
B Series toggle switches incorporate NKK's award-winning Sliding Twin
Crossbar contact mechanism to ensure unparalleled switching reliability and
smooth positive detent action.
Contact reliability is increased even further as a result of the series'
antistatic superstructure, which consists of a carbon-impregnated bushing.
When configured with a support bracket, this prevents static discharge to
the contacts. Static electricity from the operator's touch travels from the
actuator through the bushing and bracket directly to the PC board.
With a case housing constructed of glass-reinforced polyamide, these toggle
switches also feature process sealed body construction that prevents
contact contamination. Terminals are ultrasonically welded to lock out flux
and other contaminants.
An optional threaded 6mm diameter bushing for panel seal mounting is also
available and meets IP65 of IEC60529 specifications. Engineers can specify
from several different mounting options, including straight PC in bracketed
and unbracketed models, vertical and right angle mounts.
The B Series is available in both single and double pole models with a
comprehensive offering of eleven circuits in momentary and maintained
actions.
The B Series is the smallest switch in the marketplace to offer a locking
lever actuator. Actuators can be specified in a variety of styles, lengths
and colors. Other actuator options include standard bat, antistatic lever,
flatted lever, colored sleeves and snap-on paddles.
The body of the B series, including bushing, is a compact 0.515" in height.
Including a .106" long bushing, the single pole version is .268" wide and
the double pole .346" wide. Terminal spacing is .100" x .100" and conforms
to standard PC board grids for easier board layout.
These toggle switches are rated 0.4VA maximum @ 28V AC/DC maximum. The
mechanical life is rated at 100,000 operations minimum for maintained
circuits and 50,000 operations minimum for momentary circuits. Electrical
life is rated at 50,000 operations minimum.
