“Shipbuilding is a multi-generational business,” said Irwin F. Edenzon, vice president and general manager, Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding - Gulf Coast. “These grants provide a way for us to invest in our communities so the schools can give these students the tools to become the shipbuilders and engineers who will perpetuate this business for future generations.”

Representatives from schools and school districts across the Gulf Coast attended a short ceremony in the company’s chemistry lab where they were awarded their grant checks, and provided details describing their STEM projects.

“I want to thank Northrop Grumman for enhancing the science and technology projects,” said Robert Hirsch, superintendent, Ocean Springs School District. “Everyone knows this is a time of great financial uncertainty and cutbacks, so we especially appreciate the fact that Northrop Grumman is pushing technology, math and science at this time.”
