HiQ helps V-TAB to streamline production

HiQ has received an order from V-TAB, the largest printing group in the Nordic
region, to develop further a control system that manages the packing and
delivery of newspapers and magazines to the end customer. The assignment also
includes upgrading the system platform in several printing works to suit a more
modern environment.

“HiQ has worked with various players in the daily press industry for over 15
years and has helped clients in more than 30 countries to develop and implement
systems for efficient management of the packing and delivery of newspapers - an
important part of the production process in a newspaper printing works. Most of
the processes involved in printing daily newspapers are now automated, with high
requirements of system reliability,” says Bo Ringdahl, Managing Director of HiQ
Stockholm.

V-TAB is the largest printing group in the Nordic region and offers production
of newspapers, periodicals and advertising. V-TAB's solutions include not just
traditional printing services, but also well thought-out routines for logistics,
distribution and other postal press services. V-TAB aims to be a full service
supplier that makes it easy to turn an idea efficiently into finished printed
material while simultaneously keeping lead times to a minimum. V-TAB has around
850 employees and annual turnover of approximately SEK 2 billion.

HiQ's task is to develop further the control system that manages the way the
newspapers are handled, packaged and loaded for transporting to retailers and
distributors. In addition, the system monitors production, thereby allowing
continual optimisation. The advantage of a customised system such as this is
that it enables V TAB to implement the production flow and work processes that
make the Group unique in a highly competitive market.

“This system upgrade will make our deliveries even more secure in the future. In
view of the generally short shelf-life that news has, delivery reliability is of
the utmost importance within the newspaper industry. Greater production
efficiency increases the quality we provide to our customers, and HiQ's work
makes an important contribution to this,” says Torgny Sandgren, Planning Manager
at V-TAB.

“HiQ has unique skills in the development of control systems for the newspaper
industry. HiQ has worked on developing business-critical systems in various
sectors for many years and the assignment for V-TAB is another example of how
HiQ's expertise can help increase our client's efficiency and productivity,”
says Lars Stugemo, President of HiQ International.
