| Source: Morris, Manning & Martin
ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - February 3, 2010) - Nationally-known green energy innovators Jim
Gordon and Evan Schwartz are the featured guest speakers for a free online
seminar Tuesday, February 23, 2010.
"Renewable Energy: Innovation and Opportunities" will be held from 12:00
p.m. to 1:00 p.m. EST.
Despite broad consensus on the need for energy independence, renewable
energy projects face regulatory hurdles, economic challenges and the
struggle for public acceptance. Participants in the complimentary webinar
will be able to submit questions to the two groundbreaking innovators on
the panel:
-- Cape Wind Associates President Jim Gordon hopes to build America's first
offshore wind farm -- The
Cape Wind Project -- off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The $900 million
project would include 130 turbines to harness the wind and produce up to
420 megawatts of clean, renewable energy.
-- Award-winning journalist Evan Schwartz co-produced and wrote the PBS
NOVA documentary "Saved by
the Sun" about solar energy in an age of climate change and rising fuel
prices. The author and former BusinessWeek editor will discuss solar energy
and its global impact.
Greg
Chafee, Chair of the Green Industry Practice at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP will
moderate. Chafee practices energy and clean tech law nationally and
worldwide and has extensive experience with projects involving the
generation of renewable energy from wind, solar, biomass, geothermal,
hydropower and other renewable resources.
The webinar will explore public awareness and acceptance of renewable
energy in the U.S. and globally, new technologies, the regulatory landscape
and prospects for more innovation. The panel will also discuss what the
future holds for renewable energy, including opportunities for business
growth.
