HUTCHINSON, Minn., Feb. 5, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hutchinson Technology Incorporated (Nasdaq:HTCH) announced today that Mark A. Augusti has been elected to the company's board of directors.
Augusti, 44, is president of Smith & Nephew's Biologics and Spine Global Business Unit, a position he has held since 2008. He joined Smith & Nephew in 2003 as vice president of Global Trauma Marketing. He was promoted to senior vice president and general manager of the Trauma business in April 2005, and assumed the role of president of the Orthopaedic Trauma & Clinical Therapies Global Business in 2006.
Before joining Smith & Nephew, Augusti served as vice president at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and as global segment manager with GE Medical Systems. While at GE, Augusti spent 12 years in sales, marketing and development roles in the United States and Asia, residing in Japan and Thailand.

Augusti holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and economics from Duke University and an MBA from UCLA's Anderson Graduate School of Management. He currently serves on the Executive Council for the American Orthopedic Association – Orthopedic Institute of Medicine (AOA-OIOM). He has served on the Executive Committee of the Duke University Annual Fund and on the board of directors for the Regional Medical Center at Memphis Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee.
