EchoSystem Open Architecture and Moodle Integration Key Selection Criteria

DULLES, VA--(Marketwire - February 16, 2010) - Echo360, www.echo360.com, announced today that
Trinity University selected the EchoSystem platform for campus-wide lecture
capture as the preferred solution to record and publish academic content to
share through its course management system, Moodle. Together, these
systems provide Trinity students continuous access to learning resources
that can help improve retention and performance in complex science,
technology, engineering and math (STEM) courses.
"Supporting open source technologies like Moodle is important to Trinity
University. Echo360 embraces the spirit of openness by providing an
out-of-box integration with Moodle and open APIs so we can further develop
a capture and publishing workflow suited to the needs of Trinity
instructors and students," said Robert Chapman, Instructional Support
Manager for Trinity University.
"Trinity University's installation is a great example of how commercial and
open source technologies can be integrated to the benefit of the
university," said Mark Jones, President of Echo360. "Echo360's open
architecture and rich APIs makes it an ideal selection for large-scale
deployments by allowing universities to seamlessly integrate lecture
capture within their unique campus environment."
Trinity uses Echo360's leading software and hardware platform to
automatically capture class lectures and publish them in multiple formats
including podcasts and full rich media. Sixty-five percent of all captured
lectures at Trinity University are watched through the Echo360 rich media
player, in part due to the complex nature of the STEM course content.
Because the Echo360 player leverages Flash, every Trinity student can
review lectures in ways that are more advantageous to their learning style
on virtually any computer.
Chapman added: "One of the hallmarks of Trinity University's academic
experience is offering students a variety of resources which help them
acquire information and engage them in the learning process. Lecture
capture gives students long-term exposure to content and helps them
re-engage with that content outside of the initial classroom experience."
