Jamie Marie Verdi Announces Candidacy for Oakland County Probate Judge

ROCHESTER, Mich., April 14, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rochester attorney and resident Jamie Marie Verdi today announced her candidacy for Oakland County Probate judge. Verdi is an elder law and healthcare attorney who founded Michigan Patient Advocacy Liaison (MI-PAL). She provides legal services to seniors, family caregivers and patients in hospitals and long-term care facilities. Verdi routinely practices in Oakland County Probate Court.  She has collected sufficient signatures to file for the open seat on the Probate Court bench. Jamie Marie Verdi has devoted her career to advocating for elder patients who might otherwise have no voice in determining the quality or security of their care.  She explained: "I provide advocacy and counseling.  I personally go to the nursing home and hospital to work on behalf of my clients."

Verdi graduated from Boston University's School of Management and then attended New England School of Law.  After law school, she obtained a Master of Laws degree in Health Law from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.  Last year, Verdi's MI-PAL firm was honored as a 21st Century Innovator in the legal profession by Michigan Lawyer's Weekly.

Jamie Marie Verdi often provides pro-bono representation to seniors and veterans and speaks to a variety of groups about their healthcare rights.  "Families need help to rectify poor care in the healthcare system. They need assurance that their loved ones are getting the quality care they deserve.  I fight for these families," said Verdi.

Verdi is crisscrossing Oakland County to speak to business and community groups about her campaign.  She is showing voters that her dedication to helping families clearly makes her the best candidate in the race. She is married to Brian Phinney, an environmental law attorney.
