ANNAPOLIS, MD and SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - May 4, 2010) - Infoblox Inc., the leading provider of real-time DNS, DHCP and IPAM (DDI) network infrastructure solutions, today announced it has acquired Netcordia, the leading independent provider of Network Change and Configuration Management (NCCM) solutions. The acquisition, with undisclosed financial terms, includes complete assumption of Netcordia employees, assets and products.
The Netcordia acquisition will allow Infoblox to extend its leadership in DNS, DHCP and IPAM automation into change and configuration management. It will help enterprise customers automate a greater share of manual network-related tasks and procedures, reducing operating expenses while preparing them for the broad adoption of virtualization and cloud computing in the enterprise. Additional business and market benefits include:
- Combined revenue, global sales, channel and technical support strength;
- Accelerated product development of more feature-rich DDI and NCCM solutions; and
- Increased investment in new products and solutions for advancing network infrastructure automation and addressing emerging network demands.
Robert Thomas, President and CEO of Infoblox, commented: "Netcordia's market momentum, customer base, technology and exceptional employees, coupled with Infoblox's team and unique real-time data distribution and management expertise, will be invaluable to positioning Infoblox for continued success as a leading provider of both DDI and NCCM solutions, while investing in development of more advanced network infrastructure automation solutions."
Added Don Pyle, CEO of Netcordia: "Joining Infoblox -- the trusted DDI infrastructure solutions partner for many of the world's largest enterprises -- will help accelerate our momentum in the NCCM market and launch a new era of network infrastructure automation, dramatically increasing the flexibility and availability required to address the demands of new enterprise initiatives and the ever-increasing size and complexity of today's networks."
New Initiatives, Mobility and Compliance Demand New Network Approach
As the walls between the data center and the network dissolve with the proliferation of virtualization compounded by increased mobility, network managers are faced with compliance demands and the need for real-time changes to the network, but without the staff or necessary tools to meet 24x7 uptime demands and service-level agreements.
To address these issues and achieve efficient and compliant network operations, integration and coordination of NCCM and DDI technologies will be essential. Simplifying complex issues with physical and virtual network elements can be addressed by automating network infrastructure services and the remediation of unintended network configuration changes.
Jon Oltsik, Senior Analyst Enterprise Strategy Group, commented: "With the increasing number of IP-enabled devices, mobility and network management requirements colliding in the data center, real visibility, control and change management is critical for network pros. The combined expertise and technologies of Infoblox and Netcordia present a unique opportunity to help address some of these issues."

Infoblox has dominated the enterprise DDI market -- counting more than 165 of the Fortune 500 as customers -- by leveraging its unique Grid™ technology, a real-time data distribution and management capability that offers unparalleled resiliency, visibility, automation and control advantages for core network services.
The combination of Infoblox's proven real-time distributed network data management technology with Netcordia's innovative configuration, analysis and discovery solutions can help address mounting enterprise needs. Both companies' solutions automate manual and error-prone network tasks that are essential to maintaining network connectivity, uptime for physical and virtualized environments while supporting new initiatives, such as cloud computing.
The acquisition of Netcordia and its award-winning NetMRI flagship product will further strengthen Infoblox's portfolio of products by offering unmatched network infrastructure intelligence and automation capabilities that improve network reliability and predictability, staff productivity, business services uptime, and reduce costs.
Go-To-Market Strategy
Infoblox will immediately begin selling Netcordia NetMRI network management software through trained and qualified sales and channel partners. Netcordia channel partners will continue to sell and support the NetMRI solution and be eligible upon certification to add Infoblox DNS, DHCP and IPAM solutions to their portfolios.
