Cheapflights UK Keeps Travellers Flying in the Face of Ash

In the Wake of More Ash Panic, Cheapflights UK Assures Travellers That Fares Have Remained Stable as Well as Providing Insider Advice to Help Them Continue With Their Holiday Plans

LONDON--(Marketwire - May 13, 2010) -  Despite further disruptions caused by the volcanic ash cloud, the UK's leading website for flight search and comparison is telling travellers not to panic by providing them with a 'how to' guide for sticking with their plans and keeping covered in the event of a disruption.

"Understandably, travellers are concerned about booking flights in the wake of more disruptions, but there's no need to be. Contrary to what has been reported recently, fares have remained the same, scientists are confident the worst is over, and there are ways to make sure you're covered in the event of cancellation," says Nadine Hallak, Travel Expert for Cheapflights UK.

Having monitored fares closely on long, mid, and short haul routes over the last few weeks, the website can confirm that they have remained stable and not skyrocketed as per some recent claims. For example, flights to New York were going from £235 return as of three weeks ago. While they experienced a slight increase in the week of 4th May at £309 return, they have actually dropped back to £237 return this week after the second round of disruptions.

Similarly, fares to Egypt were going at £191 return three weeks ago, experiencing a slight increase to £201 return in the week of 4th May, but dropping back down to £191 return this week. Short haul flights tell the same story with Malaga remaining steady at £62 return from three weeks ago, rising to £79 return in the week of 4th May then going back to £62 return this week.

"If anything, the industry is sensitive to the situation and would like to continue catering to the public's need and desire for travel by accommodating them with good deals on fares. People should also keep in mind that we're coming up to peak season, and prices will naturally fluctuate anyway, but this is nothing to do with the ash and everything to do with the seasonal trend," adds Hallak.

For those in the planning phase of their next trip, Cheapflights UK's latest advice piece includes information on insurance, airline selection, what to do if you're stranded, and how to plan potential rescheduling with your employer should there be a cancellation prior to your departure. For full details, visit http://news.cheapflights.co.uk/2010/05/how-to-beat-volcanic-ash-this-summer/
