ORANGE, Calif., May 24, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a Southern California charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families, today announced the 2010 Blue Ribbon Gala netted more than $200,000. Nearly 300 guests attended the event, which took place Saturday, May 15th at the St. Regis Monarch Beach.
"As the kickoff in a series of events to celebrate Canyon Acres' 30th anniversary, this year's gala was especially momentous," said Clete Menke, President of Canyon Acres. "We are extremely grateful to our generous and dedicated donors, all of whom are vital to helping the agency deliver on its mission to bring hope, love and care to the children and families and who need it most."
The Blue Ribbon Gala is Canyon Acres' flagship fundraiser and typically includes dinner, live and silent auctions and opportunity prizes. This year's grand prize was a custom pearl and crystal necklace, donated by Black Starr & Frost. Auction highlights included other fabulous jewels, exciting sports packages, a luxury trip to Greece, wine dinners at beautiful estates, a private dinner on a yacht, catered by Antonello Ristorante, and Natalie Cole concert tickets and a post-show meet-and-greet.
Canyon Acres presented annual Jim Murray Memorial Service Awards to Tim and Marci Salmon, Chili's Bar & Grill and Kappa Delta Sorority Alumnae of Orange County, the respective individual, corporate and community-organization donors who exemplify the late board member's unwavering support and dedication to Canyon Acres. Other honorees highlighted during a special pre-party reception included Antonello Ristorante, LAPD Air Support Division, SA Recycling, Disneyland Resort, and Harry Winters.
"Canyon Acres would like to specially thank our major event sponsors, TROY Group, Inc. and Yard House, for their role in making the event such a success," said Tim Bauer, Canyon Acres' Vice President of Development. "We also thank gala chair and board member Christine Bock and additional sponsors, including Bock Communications, Merrill Lynch, South Coast Winery, Total Spectrum Advertising, Wells Fargo, KAP7 and Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP."
