Northland Montessori School Reviews Tips: How to Prepare Your Child for Kindergarten

SMITHVILLE, MO--(Marketwire - June 3, 2010) -  Smithville Montessori Academy, Inc. II (SMA), which educates children from six weeks through kindergarten, will host a Parents' Education Night June 9, 2010 from 6-7 p.m. to give parents tips about how to prepare their child for kindergarten.

Mandy Frayer, director of curriculum at SMA, encourages parents to follow the tips so the transition into kindergarten is an easy one for both the parent and child. "Summer can be a good time to relax, stay up late and eat when we're hungry, but most children need several weeks to adapt to a routine. Establish routines that are centered around getting up and getting ready for the day and eating meals at times close to when he or she will be eating when school starts," said Frayer.

Additional Tips:

1. Visit the school your child will attend and take your child along.

2. Begin connecting with other families of children that will be in the same class as your child or riding the same bus as your child.

3. Be open to volunteering in your child's classroom or school.

4. Give your child a balanced summer activity schedule.

5. Establish a routine that will be similar to the one your child will follow at school.

Smithville Montessori Academy (SMA) nurtures and guides children from age six weeks through kindergarten and emphasizes quality education, exceptional care and a safe and nurturing environment. The curriculum focuses on independence, a love for learning and self-respect. Located at 14451 North 169 Highway, Smithville, Mo.
