In the report, the analyst notes:
"For the first quarter of 2010, net revenue was US$567.6 million, representing an increase of approximately 162% from US$216.5 million for the comparable period ended March 31, 2009. The increase in net revenue resulted primarily from the opening of City of Dreams in June 2009.
"According to statistics released by Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, revenue in June, as the World Cup in South Africa got underway, came in at $1.7 billion. Though this represented a 65% growth from a year ago, it was a 20% drop from the numbers reported in May. Analysts from Deutsche Bank pinned the softness on the distraction of the World Cup and suggested that it would likely extend into July as the tournament draws to a close."
