ORANGE, Calif., July 19, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a Southern California charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families, today announced the 25th Annual Par Fore Kids Golf Classic will take place Monday, August 16th, 2010 at the Yorba Linda Country Club. Proceeds will benefit Canyon Acres' signature programs that help end multi-generational cycles of abuse and neglect.
In addition to 18 champion-caliber holes of golf, event highlights include a live auction, an exciting online auction at Charity Buzz.com, a barbecue lunch, a cocktail reception, fun contest holes, a 50/50 cash prize drawing, a Bloody Mary bar donated by Yard House, a chance to win a BMW convertible from Crevier BMW and a special appearance from the Angels Strike Force Girls. Major event sponsors include The Kent A. Landsberg Co. and Trilogy Capital Corp. KOCE and Yard House. Board members Barbara D'Amato and Tom Sarnecki will chair the event.
In addition, Canyon Acres is proud to commemorate the 25th year of the tournament. Over the course of its history, the event has grown to become one of the agency's most beloved and well-attended fundraisers. This year, Canyon Acres is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the agency itself. After 30 years of service to the community, Canyon Acres has intensified its programs and is more aggressively pursuing the innovation in treatment at the heart of its service repertoire.
Canyon Acres' success is largely based on breakthrough programs such as Wraparound and Creating Family Connections (CFC). Wraparound literally helps struggling and at-risk families become "wrapped" by a team of professionals and supportive services, ensuring all children are provided the opportunity to live in safe, stable and healthy homes. CFC searches for and engages long-lost family members of children who otherwise have none, offering a connection that gives children a sense of belonging and hope. CFC finds an average of 12 new family members per child and, since its inception, has helped more than 250 children make over 1600 family connections.
"25 years of the Par Fore Kids Golf Classic is a joyous occasion for Canyon Acres and its strong community of supporters," said Clete Menke, President of Canyon Acres. "Not only are we expecting this year's event to be one of our best, proceeds will be a significant contribution to our ongoing efforts to provide hope, care and love to the children and families who need it most."
Tickets for golf and dinner start at $250 per person. For sponsorship information or to participate in the tournament, please visit www.canyonacres.org or call (714) 383-9335.
