OPNET Panorama(R) 7.0 Software Introduces New User Interface Boosting Performance and Productivity

Improved Scalability and Interactivity for Monitoring and Troubleshooting

BETHESDA, Md., July 28, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OPNET Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:OPNT), a leading provider of solutions for managing applications and networks, today announced a new release of OPNET Panorama that provides significant functionality and usability enhancements that bolster OPNET's application performance management suite.

OPNET Panorama continuously monitors business-critical applications, providing real-time, in-depth visibility across all servers in the application environment. Panorama tracks thousands of system and application metrics from all tiers of an application, including Java and .NET application servers, web servers, and database servers. Panorama's powerful real-time correlation technology automatically relates metrics across multiple tiers, supporting rapid isolation of the root cause of problems. Panorama uses unique instrumentation technology that allows it to maintain minimal overhead in production environments, while conducting deep tracing and performance monitoring of application code as it runs.

"With this release, OPNET is further cementing the integration between two of its key APM solutions, ACE Live™ and Panorama. Panorama now incorporates the popular user interface first introduced with ACE Live, making combined workflows between the solutions more intuitive to the user. In addition to a significantly improved look and feel, Panorama 7.0 delivers more powerful and interactive workflows, allowing users to leverage the vast underlying database of performance information more effectively," stated Yev Gurevich, Senior Vice President of Engineering for OPNET's System Solution Group.

ACE Live is OPNET's appliance-based end-user-experience monitoring solution that collects performance and forensic data at both the network and application layers, detects performance violations, and performs triage of performance issues. ACE Live provides visibility into all transactions and users across the enterprise.

"These enhancements are part of OPNET's strategic vision for providing deep integration throughout our solution suites in order to maximize synergy, and therefore ROI for our customers who adopt multiple OPNET solutions," stated Alain Cohen, OPNET President and CTO. "Our customers have made it clear that they prefer to implement a suite of best-in-class solutions from a single vendor to address their application performance management requirements. One of the reasons for this preference is that a single vendor can implement workflows that span solutions to deliver greater automation and productivity. Workflows leading from end-user experience monitoring in ACE Live, all the way to highlighting code-level performance problems in the application back-end, are the realization of OPNET's vision for End-to-End APM."

Enhancements in Panorama 7.0 include a new console user interface similar to that of ACE Live, and which supports intuitive views for selecting, analyzing, and visualizing an application's performance metrics. The console now offers significantly greater scalability and interactivity, and can also more easily be used to simultaneously manage multiple Panorama installations, typically corresponding to separate applications.
