CONSHOHOCKEN, PA--(Marketwire - August 5, 2010) - The Eastern Pennsylvania & New Jersey Chapters of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) will host the second annual Light The Night (LTN) Kickoff event at Citizens Bank Park. The program features several Light The Night Honored Heroes -- patients and survivors, as well as support from Philadelphia Presenting Sponsor, The HEADstrong Foundation, National Partner, Burlington Coat Factory, and newly announced Chester County Presenting Sponsor, Cephalon. The Kickoff serves to ignite fundraising efforts of hundreds already registered for the October Walks, and concludes with the Phillies vs. San Francisco Giants at 7:05 PM EST.
In 2009, the chapters set a nationwide Light The Night Kickoff record with close to 800 people in attendance. This year, a record-breaking 900 attendees are expected. The top individual LTN fundraiser prior to the Kickoff will have the opportunity to throw the first pitch. All Kickoff attendees will be given a special T-shirt to commemorate the evening.
"Besides the Walks in October, this Kickoff is the greatest opportunity to generate awareness and support the families in Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey touched by blood cancer," says Sarah Lindenmuth, Light The Night Director. "With a sea of hundreds supporting LLS's mission to find cures for blood cancers, and an opportunity to cheer on our beloved Phillies, this evening promises to be unforgettable."
Light The Night is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's signature fundraising Walk that pays tribute to lives touched by blood cancers. For more information, please contact Sarah Lindenmuth, Campaign Director, at 610.238.0360 ext 260.
