Commerce Tower was built in 1965 with a total of 32 floors, making it the eighth tallest building in the downtown area. The last 15-foot beam was signed by 18,000 people including Harry S. Truman. It has been home to the offices of the Japanese Consulate, Senator Christopher Bond (R-MO) and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.
