MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - December 1, 2010) - Eastwick Communications, an award-winning integrated communications agency, recently surveyed its clients to gather industry insight on trends and outlooks for the year ahead. This survey coincides with Eastwick's sponsorship of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) "Media Predicts: 2011" event scheduled for December 2, 2010. Gathered from Eastwick clients spanning diverse industries and stages of growth, these predictions suggest directions for social media, cleantech, cloud computing and more.
"2011 will bring growth and innovation from our clients and from the extended tech community," says Barbara Bates, Eastwick founder and Principal. "In keeping with broader predictions across the industry, our clients foresee business breakthroughs and acceleration for the coming year."
Continued evolution in social media usage recurs as a theme across multiple tech sectors. "Web innovations will allow businesses to use their personal websites as 'home base' for integrated social communications," predicts Navin Nagiah, CEO of DotNetNuke, the web's leading open source content management solution. "As Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other networks continue at a fever pitch, 2011 will bring social activity back home -- to the website," says Nagiah. "Smart organizations will use their site as the hub through which content will flow to and from the social networks."
Mobile expansion and emerging multi-faceted communications are also foreseen as trends. "2011 is a year of opportunity for a new search model, allowing topical channels to be dynamically programmed, curated, and broadcast via mobile apps, inviting social amplification by the ever-growing mobile community," predicts Will Hunsinger, CEO of semantic search engine Evri. "Tablets and other mobile devices will be a cornerstone of this change."
Vyatta CEO Kelly Herrell and myDIALS CEO Wayne Morris both agree that the cloud will continue its growth in the enterprise. "Cloud applications will continue their move to the mainstream," Morris asserts.
Herrell expresses similar sentiments. "2011 is the year software-based networking projects will go operational, big time," he says. "The technology driver is Virtualization, and the market driver is cloud."
Eastwick's clean technology clients envision 2011 as a year of similar redefinition. "The solar industry's rapid growth will propel green job opportunities from a niche category and into the mainstream," says Bill Rossi, CMO of Petaluma-based Enphase Energy. "Innovations in solar technology will redefine the way that consumers, installers, and global partners look at the economic and energy opportunities that solar will deliver."
