MediaPlatform Launches Solutions Practice for the Adobe Flash Platform

Dynamic End-to-End Enterprise Framework Encompasses Multicast Fusion, Encoding, Streaming and Audience Delivery of Rich Media

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - December 16, 2010) -  MediaPlatform, the webcasting software and media management platform provider, today announced the Solutions Practice for the Adobe® Flash® Platform to help enterprises utilize the full potential of the platform for online video. Based on extensive experience with implementing the Adobe Flash Platform in the enterprise setting, MediaPlatform's dynamic and highly extensible end-to-end framework enables these companies to benefit from online video that reaches virtually all of the enterprise audience without straining network resources.

With Adobe® Flash® Media Enterprise Server 4 software, enterprises can achieve maximum reach with minimum network load through peer-assisted delivery of content, application-level multicast, and IP multicast streaming. MediaPlatform worked closely with Adobe on extensive enterprise-level testing on the server, in part developing the industry's first player supporting the multicast fusion capability.

"We're looking forward to collaborating with MediaPlatform and utilizing their expertise and experience in the enterprise video space," said Kevin Towes senior product manager for Adobe Flash Media Server. "Adobe Flash Media Enterprise Server 4 builds on the capabilities of the Flash Platform -- and the leading solution for delivering video on the web -- opening up new opportunities for enterprises to deploy large-scale streaming video communication and collaboration."

Through its Solutions Practice for the Adobe Flash Platform, MediaPlatform will work with enterprises to assess their near and long-term goals for rich media, and then develop an implementation plan that fits their specific media strategy. MediaPlatform can train the IT staff and then help the organization transition from conventional enterprise video to multicast fusion on the Adobe Flash Platform.

The MediaPlatform Framework component of the practice helps enterprises by:

  • Managing media streams from the point of origination through the end viewer
  • Monitoring server performance and utilization, integrating with infrastructure management consoles
  • Managing Flash Media Live Encoder (FMLEs) -- creating multiple streams for different end uses, including mobile devices and bandwidth constrained locations
  • Managing streams and multicasting both in the cloud and on-premise
  • Providing extensible functionality, APIs
  • Enabling Web services back-end for integration with LDAP and enterprise applications
  • Providing platform-agnostic Java architecture

In addition, MediaPlatform's custom media player, created using the Open Source Media Framework (OSMF), enables multicast fusion to reach the desktop with minimal impact on the network.

"Video and other rich media communications are increasingly becoming the tools of choice for enterprise marketers, HR professionals and many other groups that need to communicate to their worldwide audiences," said Jim McGovern, chief executive officer, MediaPlatform. "Adobe Flash Media Server 4 enables large-scale rich media webcasting while limiting the need to update network infrastructures. But most don't yet realize the capabilities this new server can provide them. MediaPlatform's new practice helps enterprises realize their media strategy and then make it come to life."
