BinckBank, Alex & VEB introduce www.shares.nl
Better returns thanks to "Facebook" for investors
Investment community Shares provides a new way of news gathering and sharing by retail investors. The site 'gets to know' the behaviour of its members and shows them information tailored to their interests. Other members can add comments, opinions and sentiments to those reports and articles. This interaction allows investors to exchange and share their knowledge and experience and help each other in achieving better returns.
Shares is similar to "Facebook" or "Hyves" but is targeted fully at private investors. Shares provides them with a one-stop source for all stock exchange information. This is derived from social media, leading news providers and fellow investors sharing information. The members can follow each other and create groups to monitor and discuss the latest information.
www.shares.nl offers a series of new features for private investors:
- Personalised news reports based on their own interests;
- Possibility of adding to and sharing this information;
- Investors can follow each other and create groups;
- Insight into market expectations and sentiment by means of stockpicking;
- All the available news, opinions and sentiment shown clustered on a single web page.
Nick Bortot, executive board member of BinckBank:
'Private investors are looking for reliable information to underpin their investment decisions. We are bringing information and investors together in Shares and giving them a platform for using each other's knowledge and insight. Learning from the experience of others provides insight and helps to prevent mistakes.'
Jan Maarten Slagter, Chairman of VEB (Dutch Shareholder Association)
'Strength in numbers is a motto that is deeply embedded in the VEB's DNA. Joining forces and knowledge empowers investors. Over 400 investment clubs affiliated with the VEB put this principle into practice every day. It is good that they can also keep in touch via a virtual club now. But individual VEB members can of course also benefit from the possibility of online sharing of knowledge and experience.'
