Evans, CPA, 56, a tax specialist on issues affecting closely held businesses and their owners, has joined the firm as a partner in the firm's Tax practice. Mr. Evans will be splitting his time between the Manhattan office and the firm's Long Island office in Woodbury.
Mr. Evans has worked with closely held businesses and their owners on tax issues related to conversions of large multinational C-Corps to S-Corps; reorganizing S-Corps and LLCs to go public; as well as helping organize and expand their international operations and several complex tax-free like kind exchanges. He also has experience with work related to taking public companies private.

Before joining MP&S, Mr. Evans was the Northeast Tax Regional Business Line Leader at BDO Seidman LLP in New York where he oversaw the firm's regional tax practice.

Mr. Evans has helped businesses with structuring and restructuring their operations through mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and expansion into both domestic and foreign markets and has also helped companies, including those with IPOs, with transition planning, exit strategies and going private. His clients have been in a range of industries including consumer business, technology, manufacturing, service providers, distribution and wholesale/retail.
During Mr. Evans' 33-year career, he has held numerous leadership positions, including serving as the world-wide deputy director of Arthur Andersen's Enterprise Group, focusing on business and tax issues that impact start-up businesses, closely held businesses and their owners.
Mr. Evans is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and both the New York and New Jersey Societies of Certified Public Accountants. He is a former member of the AICPA's S Corporation Tax Committee. Mr. Evans is actively involved with the national non-profit, CancerCare and has served as the co-chair of its annual Lung Cancer Walk in Long Island since that event's inception in 2003.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Seton Hall University and is licensed to practice accounting in New York and New Jersey. Mr. Evans resides in Manhasset, New York.
