Israel Berger & Associates (IBA) Partners With NYSERDA Multifamily Performance Program

NEW YORK, Jan. 26, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Israel Berger & Associates, LLC (IBA) has been selected by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to be a partner in the Multifamily Performance Program (MPP), which provides cash incentives and technical assistance to help building owners comply with – and even exceed – energy efficiency requirements of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Greener, Greater Buildings Plan.

As part of the Greener, Greater Buildings Plan, residential buildings over 50,000 square feet will need to comply with new legislation for benchmarking, audits and retrofits, lighting upgrades and other energy-efficiency measures. Through qualified partners, like IBA, NYSERDA's Multifamily Performance Program identifies and prioritizes eligible improvements to reduce overall energy use by 15 percent, while also keeping the building owner's financial goals in-mind.

IBA has a thorough knowledge of the incentives available to multifamily new construction and renovation projects. Every project in the MPP is eligible to receive financial assistance through a schedule of performance incentives including potential energy efficiency measures and improvements, their performance criteria, cost, and availability. As an approved partner in both new and existing building components, IBA will be part of a network providing technical services to identify areas for increasing energy efficiency while reducing operational costs. Acting as an energy expert for participants, IBA will help participants develop an Energy Reduction Plan (ERP) for each project with a whole-building technical analysis via a traditional investment grade energy audit with 15% energy reduction goal. IBA will also help provide a financial plan for funding any recommended energy efficient measures, solicit bids from capable contractors, observe (inspect) and report on the work in progress during installation or construction.

"We are very pleased to have been selected as a Multifamily Performance Program Partner to help advance energy efficiency within existing and new multifamily facilities throughout New York State," said John Hannum, VP and Director of IBA's - Energy & Building Sciences (EBS) division. "We share New York State's commitment to energy efficiency and we are eager to help program participants from concept through completion of this innovative incentive program for both new and existing buildings."
