Martin's Chips in for a Cure With Their Pink Logo and Pink Chip Bag

EPHRATA, Pa., Jan. 31, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EPHRATA, Pa.Martin's Potato Chips, Inc. did their part as they Chipped in for a Cure throughout the month of October to raise awareness and funds for the PA Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC). For a second year, Martin's turned their logo and packaging pink on their most popular product, the 9-ounce bag of "Kettle-Cook'd" chips, and donated 25 cents to the PBCC for each pink bag sold.

Martin's recently presented the PBCC a check for over $55,000—the single largest private donation made to the organization—from sales of the October 2010 Martin's Chips in for a Cure pink bag campaign, selling 220,000 9-ounce bags. During the campaign's initial launch in October 2009 and Mother's Day 2010, Martin's pink bags raised nearly $29,000 for the PBCC. To date, Martin's has donated nearly $85,000 to the PBCC to help support breast cancer awareness in Pennsylvania.

Pat Halpin-Murphy, President & Founder of the PBCC said, "Thanks to the fundraising efforts of Martin's Potato Chips, we can continue to spread the message of breast cancer awareness. We are thrilled that they have teamed up in support of the PA Breast Cancer Coalition and the women that we serve across the state. The awareness this campaign has generated for our mission is equally as important as the generous funds raised."

"The entire Martin's team is extremely proud to support the PA Breast Cancer Coalition in their quest to promote awareness and find a cure for one of the most prevalent health issues that women face today," said Butch Potter, President & CEO of Martin's Potato Chips, Inc.
