EXFO Showcases Unique and Complete Carrier Ethernet Network Testing and Monitoring Solutions at MPLS & Ethernet World Congress 2011

QUEBEC CITY, Feb. 1, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EXFO Inc. (Nasdaq:EXFO) (TSX:EXF) announced today its participation at MPLS & Ethernet World Congress 2011, February 8-11, 2011, in Paris, France, where it will be showcasing the unique BV10 Ethernet/IP Performance Endpoint Unit as part of its end-to-end assessment solution for Carrier Ethernet networks as well as the newly launched SyncWatch-110 Synchronization Testing Unit.

MPLS & Ethernet World Congress 2011 is the ideal venue to exhibit the newly launched SyncWatch-110. This synchronization tool is purpose-built for qualifying and monitoring next-generation networks that use IEEE 1588v2 and/or SyncE technologies, while maintaining support of traditional TDM synchronization testing. Being the most comprehensive network synchronization testing unit, the SyncWatch-110 enables operators to cost-effectively measure network synchronization throughout their migration plan.

As well, EXFO will be demonstrating its complete, end-to-end Carrier Ethernet assessment solution, which includes the BV10. At a fraction of the cost of a traditional NID, the BV10 is the industry's most cost-effective and comprehensive dedicated performance demarcation device that streamlines testing and service assurance throughout Carrier Ethernet networks, especially mobile backhaul deployments.

In addition to its BV10 and SyncWatch-110, EXFO will showcase EtherSAM, a new test methodology based on ITU-T Y.156sam that is completely adapted to today's Ethernet services, especially mobile backhaul and commercial services. The EtherSAM test methodology enables complete validation of all SLA parameters in a single test to ensure optimized quality of service. Contrary to other methodologies, EtherSAM supports new multiservice offerings. It can simulate all types of services that will run on the network and simultaneously qualify all key SLA parameters for each of these services. Moreover, it validates the quality-of-service mechanisms provisioned in the network to prioritize the different service types, resulting in more accurate validation and much faster deployment and troubleshooting. It is currently the only technique that allows for complete validation of Ethernet service-level agreements (SLAs) in a single, significantly faster test and with the highest level of accuracy. EXFO is a leading contributor to the ITU in helping to accelerate the turn-up, validation and troubleshooting of Ethernet networks.

"By adding the SyncWatch-110 and the BV-10 to its already complete and innovative line of Carrier Ethernet testing and monitoring solutions, EXFO is clearly positioning itself as a leading partner for the wireline and wireless operators that are planning mobile backhaul deployments," said Etienne Gagnon, EXFO's Vice-President, Wireline Division and Corporate Marketing.

At the upcoming MPLS & Ethernet World Congress 2011, EXFO's product and technology experts will be available to discuss the company's end-to-end assessment solutions for Carrier Ethernet networks. To experience the demos or to speak with EXFO experts, please visit booth 208.
