NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 8, 2011) - Hearst Corporation announced today that Jeff Dienhart has been named managing director of Map of Medicine, a subsidiary of Hearst Business Media. Dienhart succeeds Nat Billington, who has decided to leave the company. The appointment was announced today by Frank A. Bennack, Jr., vice chairman and CEO of Hearst Corporation, and Richard P. Malloch, president of Hearst Business Media, and is effective immediately.
Dienhart joins the Map from Groupe Danone, where most recently he was U.K. medical division director, responsible for commercial functions. Dienhart has 17 years of experience with blue-chip life-science companies with a prior background in management consultancy. He has also led various industry and government affairs groups and is the departing British Specialist Nutrition Association (BSNA) Chairman.
"I am very excited that Jeff is joining Map of Medicine," Malloch said. "Map of Medicine's patient pathways, based on the latest clinical evidence, have been used to improve the quality and efficiency of health care in the U.K. Jeff's senior management experience in working across the health care continuum -- providers, payers and patients -- will be invaluable to the growth of the company."
Regularly used by more than 7,500 clinical staff, Map of Medicine care maps are enabling clinical outcome improvements and productivity savings through local service reconfiguration across a growing range of conditions. Map of Medicine is successfully utilizing its experience gained with clients across the National Health Service (NHS) to simplify services commissioning across care settings, contributing to an improved patient experience. As the NHS faces a period of change, Map of Medicine is well positioned as the solution to address the quality, innovation, productivity and prevention (QIPP) challenge.
"I am delighted to be taking on this new role at this time, as the NHS enters a significant and challenging period of change," Dienhart said. "The Map of Medicine is ideally placed to support the increasing focus on improved productivity and patient outcomes, without sacrificing the overall care environment. We look forward to evolving alongside our health care and IT solutions partners, ensuring that the Map of Medicine's offerings continue to support the design and commissioning of optimum care maps as well as serve as a trusted information resource -- leading to the best possible treatment decisions."
