FAIRFIELD, Conn., March 16, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Competitive Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:CTTC) announced that a patient whose pain was successfully treated with the Company's Calmare® Pain Therapy medical device was interviewed this morning on both "Good Morning America" from ABC News and "The Early Show" from CBS News.
The patient interviewed is Alex Lambson, a high school student from Utah who along with a friend was struck by lightening last October. After leaving the hospital, Alex continued to suffer from debilitating pain as a result of the strike. Following the interviews, Alex told CTTC, "When I finally got discharged from the hospital I was still in severe pain. I was at a 10 [the highest level] on the pain scale of 1 to 10. And nothing was helping with this pain. We heard about a nearby clinic, Spero Pain Relief Therapy, that was using a new technology for relieving pain and it really has been amazing. You have to do a few treatments to get relief, but within five minutes of me getting plugged into the machine [utilizing surface electrodes], the pain almost completely disappears."
Alex received the full course of Calmare® treatments for the pain from Dr. Robert Chalmers at the Spero Pain Relief Clinic in St. George, UT. Completing all the treatments is important with this medical device as the pain relief lasts for a longer time after each treatment. Some patients, like Alex, will also require follow up, or "booster" treatments after a few weeks or months. Spero Pain Relief Therapy has recently opened clinics with multiple Calmare® devices in both St. George and Salt Lake City, Utah, and plans to open an additional 16 clinics utilizing about 150 devices throughout the Western US over the next 18 months, including the Phoenix, AZ region starting in July of 2011.
