US Patent & Trademark Office Approves Ingen for the SMART Nasal Cannula

YUCAIPA, Calif., March 24, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ingen Technologies, Inc. (Pink Sheets:IGNT), an ISO 13485:2003 certified medical device manufacturer of respiratory medical devices, receives approval from the US Patent and Trademark Office for the new SMART Nasal Cannula.

On March 1, 2011 the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued and approved the serial number 77,962,717 for the trademark of the company's SMART Nasal Cannula for use with Goods and Services IC 010.US 026 039 044; Respiratory masks for medical purposes; Tubing for use with cannulas. FIRST USE: 20100301. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 20100301.

The SMART Nasal Cannula is the first oxygen nasal cannula to include the Oxyview disposable pneumatic oxygen flow meter. The company's patented and proprietary technology includes a clear and durable medical-grade polycarbonate flow meter using a combination of gravity-independent and cyclonic technology to continuously measure oxygen flow in any position. The company has sold more than 100,000 Oxyview units in the past 24 months. The product is being sold to hospitals, medical respiratory product suppliers and providers. With the continued increase in home oxygen care, the company hopes to benefit in the $4Billion respiratory market and improve oxygen therapy and reduce health costs associated with unnecessary service calls.

"The benefits of the new SMART Nasal Cannula with Oxyview allows the clinician to see oxygen flow during rehab and at home when a patient requires extenders to be attached to their nasal cannula for mobility. The patients using a low-flow of oxygen can quickly verify oxygen flow even though they do not always feel the gas flow. The SMART Nasal Cannula confirms prescribed oxygen flow rate. The assurance and safety that the SMART Nasal Cannula provides reduces the anxiety of the patient since the patient can actually see that oxygen is flowing. It would be like trying to drive your car without a speedometer," stated Gary Tilden, Chairman. Mr. Tilden further stated that, "We look forward to finalizing current negotiations with government sources and major suppliers in the weeks to come."
