SAN RAMON, Calif. and COLOGNE, Germany, May 2, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ANGA Cable, Hall 10, Level 1, Booth M16 — The Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA®) has set its sights on in-home backbones in Europe as pervasive in-home connectivity starts to become mainstream.
Although the home will be a hybrid of wired and wireless networking technologies, there is an urgent requirement for a robust in-home backbone that will deliver the best Quality of Experience (QoE) to consumers. A MoCA-based in-home backbone provides a robust extension to existing in-home networks (e.g. Wi-Fi®) for HD-rich European homes.
MoCA supports multiple streams of content - including HDTV, 3D, gaming, and OTT - via an IP-over-coax connection to numerous in-home devices, including HDTVs, game consoles and PCs. MoCA technology also provides the connection without interfering with existing technologies or services already in use.
"Hybrid networks will undoubtedly be the norm in European homes, as existing Wi-Fi networks are extended and enhanced with a MoCA-based in-home backbone that provides the additional bandwidth and reliability needed for today's HD-rich services," said Charles Cerino, MoCA president.
MoCA is the worldwide standard for home entertainment networking and the only standard in deployment in all three pay TV segments (cable, satellite and Telco/IPTV). MoCA is included in the DLNA stack and the IEEE 802.1AS standard.
