NEW YORK, May 2, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Twinlab Corporation, the pioneer and leader in sports nutrition, has successfully completed the requirements of NSF International's GMP for Sport™ Athletic Banned Substances Program.
The program verifies that Twinlab's state of the art facility in American Fork, UT has met NSF International's stringent independent certification process guidelines, which include facilities and manufacturing process inspections and reviews to assure compliance with NSF's rigorous banned substances standards. Facilities certified by NSF conform to the highest consensus standards, and ongoing monitoring, including two annual facility inspections, to ensure continued compliance with program requirements.
The new GMP for Sport certification applies to all brands produced in the facility, including Twinlab®, Metabolife®, Alvita®, Nature's Herbs® brands, as well as all private label and contract manufacturing.
NSF International's GMP for Sport program was developed to meet the growing demand of athletes, coaches and all those concerned about banned substances in sports. NSF inspects facilities for a range of substances identified by leading sports organizations, such as the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) NSF International's GMP Sport Program enables manufacturers working within the sports supplement industry, such as Twinlab, to emphasize quality throughout their operations.
"For over 40 years, the number one promise of the Twinlab brand to our customers has been quality above all else," said Thane Slagowski, VP of Product Development and Quality at Twinlab. "This latest certification from NSF International solidifies that promise, and renews our enduring commitment to continue manufacturing quality nutritional products of only the highest standard."
