Carousel Industries Launches CAPS Platform, Enabling Rapid Deployment of Feature-Rich IP Telephony Applications

Initial CAPS Applications Bundle is Suitable for Enterprise Environments in a Range of Verticals and Includes Click to Dial, Enhanced Caller ID and Push Messaging


EXETER, R.I., May 23, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Carousel Industries, a leader in data networking and converged communications, announced the launch of its CAPS (Carousel Applications Server) software platform, which enables rapid deployment of feature-rich IP telephony applications. The inaugural bundle of applications within CAPS, which is targeted at Avaya enterprise environments across a wide range of vertical markets, includes features such as Click to Dial, Enhanced Caller ID and Push Messaging capabilities. The application platform runs on Microsoft Windows servers and is available exclusively through Carousel Industries.

Following is a brief description of some of the key application features included in CAPS' initial launch: 

  • Click to Dial

This feature, which is particularly applicable to call centers, allows the user to dial a contact within their email client database or on their web browser with a simple click. Click to Dial also captures phone extensions, so no additional dialing effort is required on behalf of the user. Click to Dial dramatically increases efficiency by reducing dialing time while improving accuracy.

  • Enhanced Caller ID

This is a sophisticated feature that helps the user gather an intelligent, instant visual representation of who is calling them. Enhanced Caller ID not only provides the user with the caller's phone number, it provides additional information such as the city, state and other items depending on user preferences and available information.

  • Push Messaging

CAPS includes a Push Messaging application which can deliver text messages to desktop phones, unlike traditional SMS messaging. This capability provides enterprises with increased communications accessibility and a convenient messaging alternative useful for posting quick notes to either an entire staff or specific components/departments. 

Carousel Industries' CAPS application bundle, which is designed strictly for end-user environments, also includes a proxy layer that allows it to run seamlessly alongside Avaya technology. Currently, CAPS is designed to communicate with Avaya Application Enablement Server (AES), but the platform is customizable to work in just about any IP telephony environment depending on the customer's need.
